Lead Home Visitor (Internal applicant)

Provides ongoing home visiting services to pre-natal mothers and children birth through the age of 60 months. Provide support and information to parents on topics deemed appropriate through the New Mexico Home Visiting Program (NM HVP). Is timely and honest in-service provision and documentation. Coordinate and complete audits, electronic data and documents, and communications of all forms (e-mail, phone, text, remote, etc.) effectively and timely. Represents the agency in a professional manner at all times. Must demonstrate the following characteristics: excellent customer service with all internal and external customers; non-judgmental with a wide variety of family dynamics, ethnicities, races, socioeconomic backgrounds and environments; understand the importance of urgency and accuracy; ability to establish rapport with children and families; and be able to adapt to changing work conditions; provide assistance and direction to the Home Visitors under your leadership.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or GED; or bachelor’s degree; or working toward a bachelor’s degree in an acceptable course of study as outlined in the home visiting standards for level 2 home visitor.
  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Minimum of one year experience with home visiting practices or in a related field.
  • Possess a working knowledge of home visiting practices, standards, policies, and procedures. Must be able to provide fair and accurate guidance to coworkers.
  • Willingness to become endorsed with Infant Mental health Level 2 endorsement within two years of receiving bachelor’s degree.
  • Willingness to travel to any of the five counties where service is provided as needed and trainings as assigned.
  • Ability to pass a background screening.
  • Ability to pass a drug screening.
  • Possess a working telephone.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Possess and use personal reliable vehicle.
  • Possess and maintain a satisfactory driving record.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English well.
  • Ability to coordinate several tasks at once and handle various situations in a calm and professional manner.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and have excellent organizational and time management skills.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to balance, climb, bend, stoop, reach, and kneel
  • Use of your arms, hands, and fingers
  • Requires lifting up to 25 lbs. frequently and 50 lbs. occasionally.
  • Walk, stand, and/or sit for at least eight hours per day
  • Must be capable of getting in and out of vehicle multiple times per day
  • Must be able to get up and down from the floor, as 75% of the time is to provide Home Visits with the child and family.
  • Must be able to carry and hold children weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Must perform large volume of handwritten paper and computer work, and be able to manipulate it with the arms, hands and fingers.
